KENYA 2017 AFCON BID EXCITES SUPER EAGLES

Kenya Football Limited’s bid to co-host 2017 Africa Cup of Nations with Uganda may have taken off on a sound footing, as top Super Eagles players dream about returning to Nairobi for Africa’s most prestigious competition.

A cross section of the players who pleaded anonymity, made their views known to Complete Sports Saturday during the team’s 1-0 win over Harambee Stars in the 2014 World Cup qualifier in Nairobi. According to them, the KFL decision to bid for 2017 AFCON is a welcome development given the country’s rising tourism profile which would make the competition a memorable one.

“That will be a great one; Kenya hosting the 2017 Nations Cup is a welcome idea because of its rich tourism and hospitality. The tourism business there is booming and I think players can always enjoy the safaris there. The weather too is ideal and their hotels are good too. I think a lot of countries will be happy to go there for the Nations Cup,” one of the top Super Eagles players said.

Meanwhile, Kenya’s leading hotel chain , Sarova Hotels leads the long list of hotels that are expected to win CAF nod should the bid sail through. Complete Sports Saturday’s tour of Sarova Stanley and Sarova PanAfrique in Nairobi and Sarova White Sands in Mombasa, confirmed the hotels’ readiness to welcome the rest of Africa in 2017.

In a chat with Complete Sports Saturday, Sarova Hotels Group Sales Manager, Roselyne Nduati stated that the group can boast of eight five star hotels in Kenya alone, stressing that Kenyans will be looking forward to hosting the rest of Africa in 2017, with Sarova Hotels ready to offer them the much talked about Kenyan Hospitality.
