Galatasaray are in talks with Chelsea over Mikel according to the president of the Turkish Süper Lig club, Ünal Aysal."We are interested in Mikel, negotiations are ongoing," Aysal told Turkish newspaper Sabah.
There were also reports suggesting that a deal is already in place however, Chelsea denied an agreement having being reached.
Galatasaray will need to sell a foreign player if they are to sign Mikel as the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) will only permits 10 foreign players per-club in the 2013-14 season.
The (TFF) will also only permit six foreign players on the field at any one time. The Lions currently have 10 non-Turkish players on their books.
The 26-year-old defensive midfielder joined Chelsea from FK Lyn for €26 million in 2006 and still has four years left on his contract.
Mikel has made 277 appearances for Chelsea during which time he has won the Premier League title, four FA Cups and lifted the Champions League as well as the Europa League trophy.
